For this project I used old costume to recreated the wedding dress from the film Ready or Not. The film takes place on Grace’s wedding day and as the movie goes on her wedding dress becomes more broken down.
From the clothing available, I chose a long skirt and a detailed top (which I thought of as the lace overlay on the dress). To create a stained and filthy look to the garment I dyed both pieces in and mixture of brown and black dyes. I ombre dyed the lower section of the skirt a darker shade to add depth. Using sandpaper, I made the edges to the fabric look torn and broken down. As well as adding a rip to the skirt. I used red paint to create the “splatter” on the top.
